Mother Robin and Her Family

May 25, 2009
Moving your houseplants outside for the summer has always been a tradition with many gardeners. This mother Robin decided to take advantage of building her nest in a potted Weeping Fig tree (Ficus Benjamina) on the porch. She built the nest about 4 feet up from the ground in the tree giving us a birds eye view of her new family of four.

What great pictures and how nice she picked a spot that you could see the nest from :)

Hi Debbie, I think Momma Robins everywhere find some of the most bizarre places to build a nest. Nice it was in a place you could watch the babies grow.

Hi Debbie,
We brought out the umbrella a few weeks ago for the patio and when I went to open it last week, a nest fell out! How did they build it so quickly? Needless to say, all the tiny eggs smashed on the table...I was heart broken! Wasn't blue like a robin's egg but peach with spots and teeny tiny...poor mother bird is wondering "What the Hell...." Great photos of this family!!
