Garden Blogger's Bloom Day - September 2012

Another month has flown by and it is time for Garden Blogger's Bloom Day.  We have been receiving normal rainfall again and the garden has been responding well  to cooler temperatures.  I did have some drought damage and I lost one shrub and one very old tree.  Everything has greened up and is looking very good considering twelve weeks of no rain.  I did have lots of damage to my hostas this year due to slugs, drought and high temperatures.

I continue to prepare the gardens for that special event that is coming up shortly and I will write about it at a later date. I have spent a lot of time preparing the garden and hope for the weather not to turn cold to soon.

I have almost completed the "Fairy Garden" and it is totally mossed now.  After working with the moss, I have decided to moss my Japanese garden. That will be a long process over several years to plant and let the moss spread, but the effect will be beautiful. Watch for the post on the Fairy Garden next month. He…
