Adding Warmth to the Garden with a Fire Feature

Imagine sitting around a warm fire in your garden in the fall. It is dark outside and the fire makes a warm orange glow in the garden. The fire crackles and pops as the smell of the wood makes you think of your childhood and camp outs with your family. You sit around the fire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, telling and sharing stories with your children. Sitting around a fire can be very relaxing and what a great way to have quality time with your family and friends.

If you have been thinking about adding a fire feature to your garden, here are some ideas. Some of the photos are combinations of water and fire which is a new look in garden design.
Some of these projects are easy to build and others may require some expert help in their construction. Some of the pictures below are wood burning or gas logs depending on how much you want to spend on the project. You can also buy precast cement fireplaces that come in pieces. Each piece is stacked to form the fireplace. After the fireplace is assembled you can cover it with the stone of your choice. Check around at local stone centers in your area for precast cement fireplace kits.

The back of this fire pit is steel with a flower cut out

This fire and water feature is made of cement block available at most local hardware stores.

A simple water and fire feature for the garden that is inexpensive to make.

I hope that I gave you some ideas on fire features for your garden. It is early in the year and a good time to start planning before fall arrives.

Happy Gardening!

Those are some great ideas. Thanks for sharing! We have a really old deck that we're planning to replace with stone so some kind of fire feature in the middle would be really perfect. It seems like it would be an ideal place to hang out on those cool fall nights and enjoy with a bunch of friends around.
